Education

Benjamin Franklin is quoted with saying, “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.”

This statement in true in any part of the world which is why one of Team Haiti’s top priorities is providing opportunities to educate the children in Carries.

Haiti does not have a public education system like that provided in the United States. Schools in Haiti rely solely on tuition and fees to cover costs. Because of the high price of school, many families forego the education process. This can lead to a slew of health problems, social problems, and more. The village of Carries has a population of nearly 8,000 which makes our mission to provide an education so important.

Through charitable donations, Team Haiti is able to send more than 500 children to school and earn an education. Many of those children attend school in the school building in the village of Carries. This education initiative also encourages and enables students to continue their education and earn a college degree from a university in Port au Prince. We also help sponsor a school in Montrouis, we call it Gary's school but the name of it is College Mixte Isacc. We also sponsor 2 schools in south Haiti, Plaisance.

We believe education is not limited to children. Team Haiti raises money to provide an adult reading program that takes place in the school building where people of all ages can learn the basics of reading.

At this time, we would like to secure the support we need to fully operate the school to serve 500 children with funds to pay for teachers and books and supplies.

Amazingly, this can be done for only $21 per child per month or $210 per child for 10 months of the school year. Even in the face of seemingly insurmountable challenges, we believe that education is one of the best pathways to a better life and, ultimately, to change the entire nation.
